RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Army to act as a bulwark against the menace of terrorism until the complete elimination of the menace, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated.
General Syed Asim Munir said this during his visit to Bannu, where nine brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom yesterday in a suicide bombing attack on a military convoy in the Jani Khel area of Bannu district, ISPR said.
During his visit, the COAS received a comprehensive briefing on ongoing military operations and the prevailing security situation. The COAS also visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Bannu to personally inquire about the health and well-being of the injured soldiers.
COAS Lauds High Morale and Determination of Troops
Commending the high morale and resolute determination exhibited by the troops, General Syed Asim Munir reiterated the Pakistan Army’s strong commitment to countering terrorism to safeguard the nation from this grave menace.
He expressed his commitment by stating, “Pakistan Army will continue to act as a bulwark against terrorism to safeguard the nation from this scourge.”
During interactions with officers and troops stationed in the region, the COAS stressed that the collective efforts of the Army, Law Enforcement Agencies, and the nation as a whole could never be coerced by the cowardly tactics employed by terrorists. He emphasized that terrorists harbored a misguided belief that they could challenge the unwavering resolve of soldiers and the authority of the state.
General Syed Asim Munir maintained, “We have fought for a prolonged period, and we will persistently combat the menace of terrorism until its eradication. The nation pays rich tribute to those who have laid down their lives, and their sacrifices will forever be honored.”
Upon his arrival, the COAS was received by the Commander of Peshawar Corps, underscoring the solidarity and unity within the ranks of Pakistan’s military leadership in the face of challenges.
