RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir is in Uzbekistan on a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation with the country, details made available from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“COAS Asim Munir is on a two-day official visit to Uzbekistan to enhance military-to-military cooperation and defence cooperation,” the army’s media wing said in a brief statement today.
During the visit, the head of the army called on the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Minister of Defence and the Chairman and Secretary of State Security.
In the meetings, the COAS emphasized on strengthening mutual cooperation in training and intelligence sharing.
He praised the level of training and readiness of the military forces of Uzbekistan and their understanding of regional security issues.
On arrival at the Ministry of Defence, COAS Munir received a warm welcome and was given a guard of honor by an elegantly assembled contingent. He also laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ memorial complex in Tashkent.
