ISLAMABAD:  The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) objections against the bench constituted to hear the review petition on Article 63-A, local media reported on Wednesday.

The objections were raised during the case’s hearing on Wednesday, where the PTI has argued that the bench had been formed improperly, but Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, dismissed these claims.

PTI’s legal counsel, Barrister Ali Zafar has argued that the bench’s constitution did not follow proper legal procedures and that the party had not been notified effectively in advance about the hearing.

However, Barrister Ali Zafar contended that this lack of notice compromised the fairness of the proceedings and pleaded that the bench be reconstituted as per legal norms.  However, Chief Justice of Pakistan rejected PTI’s objections as baseless.

CJP Qazi Faez Isa has clarified that the bench’s constitution was in compliance with judicial process and procedures. He said that they all agreed as a court to reject the objections raised against the validity of the bench. The CJP reiterated that the verdict was unanimous among the judges.

Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail said that there is a worrying trend of criticizing the judiciary when rulings do not favor certain political parties. PTI’s objection to the bench constitution was dismissed, and the hearing continued.

The court also reaffirmed that the judiciary would not be influenced by external pressures and would continue its work independently.
