ISLAMABAD: Putting all rumors to rest Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has categorically declined to accept an extension in service, local media reported on Monday.

Responding to a journalist’s question regarding his willingness for an extension, the Chief Justice of Pakistan firmly stated, “If they offer an extension, I will not take it.”

Replying to another question, the CJP, “Bring Rana Sanaullah in front of me.” The CJP also clarified that he had neither met nor spoken to Rana Sanaullah.

The development takes place as Advisor to PM for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah had claimed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa has refused accepting an extension in his tenure.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan further revealed, “I had spoken with Azam Nazeer Tarar, and at that time, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and the Attorney General were also present. It was suggested that an extension could be given to the CJP, but I clearly declined.”

When asked why the issue of the six judges’ letter is not being scheduled for a hearing, he replied, “The committee is responsible for scheduling the case about the six judges’ letter.”  The CJP also clarified that the bench could not be formed earlier due to health issues of Justice Musarrat Hilali.
