CIA Head Floats 28-day Gaza Truce Deal: Report

WASHINGTON:  CIA Director Bill Burns has floated an agreement for a 28-day Gaza truce, the freeing of around eight captives by Hamas and the release of dozens of Palestinian prisoners by Israel, the Axios news site reports.

According to media reports, Burns has discussed the idea during a meeting on Sunday with Qatari and Israeli counterparts.

In the Gaza Strip, around 43,020 people have been killed and more than 101,110 injured in Israeli strikes since October 7, 2023.  In Lebanon, around 2,710 people, including 127 children, have been killed and 12,592 injured in Israeli strikes since the war in Gaza started.
