WASHINGTON: CIA chief Bill Burns will meet with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and the head of Israel’s Mossad spy agency in Warsaw on Monday to discuss a potential new deal for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, two US officials informed Reuters.
Both officials requested anonymity as they discussed the upcoming meetings.
Axios had previously reported the scheduled meeting, citing sources from the US and Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at ongoing negotiations to recover hostages held by Hamas, following a meeting between Israel’s intelligence chief, David Barnea, and the Qatari Prime Minister, who is involved in mediation between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group.
The meeting between Barnea and Al Thani took place in Europe late on Friday, reports said.
