ISLAMABAD/LONDON: Britain’s Princess of Wales, Catherine, paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth in Westminster Abbey at a carol service, saying the first Christmas of the royal family without the late Queen would “feel very different.”
King Charles joined his son Prince William, Kate, accompanied by Queen Consort Camilla and other family members at the abbey service, where the funeral of Queen Elizabeth was held in September this year. The carol service that took place last week will be broadcast on Saturday.
Kate, William’s wife, became Wales’ Princess after Charles ascended to the throne, hosted the event, and dedicated the event to Queen Elizabeth and “all those who are no longer with us sadly.”
“Christmas will be very different this year”
Kate said in introduction to the service that even though Christmas will be very different this year, we can still remember the traditions and memories we share. Queen Elizabeth died on 8 September this year after 70 years on the throne at 96. Kate further said that Queen Elizabeth held Christmas very special and close to her heart as Christmas brought people together and reminded us of the value of friendship, faith, and family and showing compassion and empathy. The royal family presented a united front at the service on 15th December, on the same day the final episodes of the Netflix of Prince Harry and Meghan documentary series were released.
Prince Harry stepped down in 2020 from royal duties and piled fresh criticism in the Netflix series on his family, including accusing Prince William, his brother, of shouting at him to discuss his future during a summit.
