Chinese President Xi Cherishes for Pak-China Ties: Chinese Diplomat

ISLAMABAD: China Consul General in Lahore Zhao Shiren has said that all the mega projects initiated as per China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan belonged to Pakistan, local media reported on Saturday. Talking to the media in Islamabad, he said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects were for the benefit of the people of Pakistan.

The Consul General said that CPEC was not only for economic profits, people-to-people contact, and cultural interactions, but it was more than that. The diplomat said that the CPEC project was for all, including all dimensions of the Pakistan-China ties.

He added that the CPEC was the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping for regional connectivity.

He said that the Chinese government, people, and President Xi Jinping personally valued for Pakistan-China ties. The envoy strongly dismissed the negative propaganda regarding the CPEC project and said that Islamabad and Beijing will have to make more and more efforts to counter the negative propaganda against the CPEC project.

He further said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects played a significant role in the social transformation and economic development of Pakistan. He maintained that the CPEC mainly covered energy, transportation, and infrastructure-building sectors in Pakistan.

The diplomat further said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is developing from Phase I to Phase II, covering more sectors like IT, healthcare, technology, renewable energy, and education.
