Chinese Major General Holds Talks with Nepal Army Chief to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

KATHMANDU: Major General Yue Ande, representing the Tibet Military Command of the People’s Liberation Army of China, engaged in crucial talks with Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma during a visit to Nepal. The two military leaders deliberated on matters of mutual interest and concern, reaffirming their commitment to fostering stronger ties between their nations.

The meeting, held at the Nepal Army headquarters, served as a platform for both sides to address key issues and explore avenues for collaboration. The Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations and Information released a statement highlighting the significance of the talks and the potential for bilateral benefits.

Military Cooperation Between China and Nepal

Major General Yue Ande led an eight-member border defense delegation team on a five-day visit to Kathmandu, arriving at the Tribhuvan International Airport where they were greeted by Major General Sagar Bahadur Thapa. The visit aims to facilitate a deeper understanding and exchange between the two nations’ military forces.

As part of their itinerary, the Chinese delegation will visit the Army Command and Staff College, Military Museum, and various military units. The team will also have the opportunity to explore historical and tourist sites in both Kathmandu and Pokhara, contributing to cultural exchange and promoting tourism.

The Nepal Army views this visit as a means of not only strengthening the bond between the two countries but also enhancing the promotion of Nepal’s tourism sector. The engagement underscores the commitment to advancing cooperation in diverse areas, transcending military affairs to encompass broader aspects of mutual benefit and development.
