Chinese Enthusiastic about Promoting Squash in the Country: Shahid Zaman

ISLAMABAD: Renowned international squash coach and former Pakistani player, Shahid Zaman Khan, recently visited Shanghai upon the invitation of the Shanghai Squash Association (SSA) to train young squash players at Lantau Squash Courts, Hongiao Sports Park Shanghai.

During his seven-day coaching camp, Shahid Zaman observed the Chinese players’ enthusiasm and determination to promote squash in their country.

Expressing his admiration for China’s efforts, Shahid Zaman highlighted the Chinese people’s commitment to developing squash and their provision of top-notch facilities for male and female players. Having come from the United States, he commended the players’ eagerness to learn the skills and techniques of squash.

Shahid Zaman acknowledged the strong bond between Pakistan and China, emphasizing the mutual respect and friendship between the two nations. He praised the Chinese squash officials for their hard work in advancing the sport internationally, including their focus on player and club development, as well as the construction of squash courts according to international standards.

Shahid Zaman Asks PSF to Engage Qualified Pakistani Coaches

However, Shahid Zaman also emphasized the need for Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) to engage qualified Pakistani coaches who can nurture young talents. While he mentioned that he himself is occupied with his current position at Harvard Business School in the USA, he urged the federation to make use of the services of Pakistani coaches working abroad to revive Pakistan’s former glory in squash. Shahid Zaman expressed concern about the current state of Pakistan squash and the lack of respect for coaches within the country.

Shahid Zaman reiterated his dream of witnessing Pakistan squash regain its prominence and success. As a former player who received honors and respect for representing his country, he conveyed his unwavering support for Pakistani squash and urged the PSF to prioritize hiring experienced coaches to guide the young generation of players.
