SEOUL: A delegation of Chinese Communist Party and a government delegation led by Vice-Premier Liu Guozhong will visit North Korea to participate in country’s founding day celebrations later this week, state media reported on Thursday.
According to KCNA the Chinese delegation is visiting N. Korea at the invitation of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Kim Jong Un leads the WPK whose family has been in power since the country was established in 1948.

North Korea celebrates its founding day on September 9, also called the Day of the Foundation of the Republic.
US officials have claimed N. Korean leader Kim might visit Russia soon, making his first trip abroad after the Covid-19 pandemic to discuss a probable arms agreement with President Vladimir Putin.

In July, a Chinese delegation led by Chinese Communist Party Politburo member Li Hongzhong attended a military parade observing the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu was also present on the occasion.
Last month North Korea started allowing its nationals to return into the country for the first time since 2020, when it closed its borders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
