ISLAMABAD: A Chinese electric car manufacturing company has announced the establishment of an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing unit in Pakistan, along with showrooms in major cities across the country.
Electric car manufacturing company Xinjian Jingyi Cheng Group made this announcement during a meeting with Amin Ullah Baig, Vice President of FPCCI (Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry). The Xinjian Jingyi Cheng Group was led by Assistant Chairman GU Xongquan.
GU Xongquan emphasized that the company’s decision to enter the Pakistani market, establish a manufacturing unit, and open showrooms aligns with their long-term business strategy. He highlighted the importance of cars as the primary mode of transportation in Pakistan and the rising global oil prices, which have led to increased gasoline costs. Consequently, there is a growing need for consumers to transition to the new energy market.
Amin Ullah Baig urged the Chinese delegation to expedite their investment plans, emphasizing the mutual benefits of such a venture.

Electric Vehicle Plant in Pakistan
Notably, in May of the previous year, the ‘Gauss Auto Group,’ another Chinese company, had announced its intention to build an electric vehicle (EV) plant in a special economic zone near Port Qasim in Karachi, Pakistan. The company had plans for a Joint Venture (JV) with AKD Group Holdings (Pvt.) Limited to establish the plant on approximately 1000 acres of land near Port Qasim, Karachi. This development followed discussions between a delegation led by Mr. Chen Feng, CEO of Gauss Auto Group, and Mr. Nasir Rizwan, CEO of AKD Group Holdings, with officials from the Board of Investment (BOI) in Pakistan, including Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain and BOI Secretary Ms. Fareena Mazhar.
