BEIJING: Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission (FAC) of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Wang Yi, received the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Beijing on Monday, calling in a bid to reverse the downward spiral of China-US relations.
Wang said Blinken’s visit to Beijing comes at a critical point in bilateral ties, where a choice requires to be made between negotiations or confrontation, cooperation or conflict.
US-China relations moved forward with time
He said that time always moved forward, and so did China-U.S. relations. Turning back the wheel of history had no future so the bilateral relations should be dismantled and rebuilt all over again.
He added that both countries must take a responsible attitude toward their people, history, and the world, reverse the downward spiral of bilateral ties.
Wang called on the two sides to return bilateral relations to a healthy and stable track and jointly find the right way for both nations to get along in the new era.
