Chinese Business Delegation Meets Pakistani Minister, Discuss Business Opportunities

ISLAMABAD: A high-level business delegation led by Li Ting, Chairman of the Chang Chinag Chamber of Commerce, China, called on Pakistan Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Muhammad Sami Saeed on Tuesday.

The primary objective of the meeting was to explore potential collaboration opportunities between Pakistan and China in various sectors, with a focus on expanding business ventures and identifying new investment prospects.

The eight-member delegation represented a diverse array of industries, including import and export, technology, electronics, machinery, office supplies, apparel, and building materials. The discussions centered on fortifying bilateral ties and pinpointing strategic areas for mutually beneficial partnerships.

Federal Minister Muhammad Sami Saeed highlighted key sectors for investment, emphasizing Agriculture, IT & Telecom, Mines & Minerals, and Energy. He underscored the potential of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and expressed Pakistan’s encouragement for foreign investment, particularly from Chinese investors, for joint ventures and the relocation of industries.

Minister Saeed also highlighted Pakistan’s demographic dividend, with the youth constituting over 60% of the population, presenting ample business opportunities, especially in the IT sector.

The Minister reiterated the Government of Pakistan’s dedication to providing a secure business environment, making investor facilitation a top priority. “Our government’s utmost priority is a one-window operation for foreign investors, ensuring security and comfort in our industrial zones. We encourage B2B investments and welcome businesses to explore opportunities in sectors like agriculture, food, IT, Artificial Intelligence, and industrial cooperation,” stated Minister Saeed.

Furthermore, Minister Saeed reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), notably the flagship program, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). As a token of appreciation, the delegation presented special souvenirs to the Planning Minister, reciprocated by a souvenir presented by the Minister to the delegation.

Pakistan is committed to facilitating and encouraging foreign investment, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with China and other nations. This initiative aims to promote prosperity and growth, benefiting both nations and making positive contributions to regional and global economies.
