China’s Xi, Norway’s PM Discuss Cooperation on Green Energy

BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere met in Beijing on Monday and discussed bilateral relations with a focus on green energy and sustainable development.

During the meeting, Xi emphasized China’s willingness to collaborate with Norway on a range of initiatives aimed at promoting environmental protection and advancing green technology. Key areas of potential cooperation highlighted by Xi include green energy, energy transition, shipping, agricultural and fishery products, and electric vehicles.

The discussions come at a time when global focus on environmental sustainability and climate action is intensifying. Xi’s comments reflect China’s commitment to addressing climate change and exploring joint ventures that could enhance contributions to global green energy goals.

Regarding the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Xi expressed hope that international parties would work together to create favorable conditions for a peaceful resolution through dialogue. He underscored the importance of the international community’s role in navigating the rapidly changing global landscape. He stressed China’s commitment to peaceful development.

Prime Minister Stoere said that both sides discussed climate and sustainable development policies along with business and human rights issues. Stoere acknowledged the significance of China’s actions in advancing the global green transition. He underscored the mutual benefits of increased cooperation in these critical areas.

“What China is doing is of great importance for the green transition the world is going through,” Stoere said.
