MANILA: The Chinese embassy in the Philippines has demanded accountability from the United States (US) over allegations of spreading misinformation about China’s COVID-19 vaccine.
The embassy’s remarks follow a recent Reuters investigative report revealing a covert U.S. military operation aimed at discrediting Sinovac, a Chinese-made vaccine widely used in the Philippines. The objective was to undermine confidence in Sinovac’s efficacy among the Filipino population.
In response, a spokesperson for China’s embassy called for an immediate explanation from the U.S. government to the Filipino people regarding what they termed as “false propaganda.” The embassy’s statement strongly criticized the alleged U.S. tactics, urging an end to what they described as the dissemination of falsehoods aimed at confusing global perceptions. They further demanded a cessation of any actions aimed at condescending other nations.
