BEIJING: China continues its robust progress in the development of the 5G network, with nearly 3.22 million 5G base stations constructed by the end of October, representing 28.1 percent of all mobile base stations in the country, said China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

By the same period, China’s major telecom companies—China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom—boasted a cumulative 754 million 5G mobile phone users, as reported by CGTN.

The ministry’s data further illustrates the telecommunications industry’s growth in the first 10 months of the year, with combined business revenues of sector firms reaching approximately 1.4 trillion yuan (about $196 billion), marking a 6.9 percent year-on-year increase.
