BEIJING: China has voiced its support for the conduct of smooth, stable, and safe elections across Pakistan. Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, reiterated China’s commitment as an all-weather strategic cooperative partner and iron friend to Pakistan during his regular briefing on Thursday.
Expressing deep concern over recent incidents of violence leading up to the elections, Wenbin condemned the attacks and extended condolences to the victims and their families. He emphasized China’s staunch opposition to all forms of terrorism and pledged firm support for Pakistan’s relentless efforts to eradicate terrorism to achieve social security and stability.
China Lauds Pakistan’s General Elections
While acknowledging Pakistan’s internal affairs regarding the general election, Wenbin emphasized China’s unwavering support for the process, reiterating their wish for a smooth, stable, and safe election.
Cheng Xizhong, a Visiting Professor at Southwest University of Political Science and Law, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Pakistan’s efficient capabilities in maintaining effective control over the overall security situation in the country.
He emphasized that despite occasional terrorist incidents, Pakistan possesses the necessary resources to respond effectively, thwarting any attempts by regional powers to undermine its social stability and economic development through support for terrorist activities.
