BEIJING: China has called for the full implementation of the resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that demands an immediate, durable, and sustained humanitarian truce in Gaza.
Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Wang Wenbin emphasized China’s hope for the swift restoration of regional peace and stability during his daily briefing on Monday.
China voted in favor of the UNGA resolution, which reaffirms that a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be achieved through peaceful means, based on relevant UN resolutions, international law, and the fundamental principle of a “two-state solution.”
Wang Wenbin reiterated China’s consistent stance, emphasizing the importance of peaceful resolution guided by international norms. In the face of escalating conflict, China has consistently advocated for a ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and the establishment of humanitarian relief corridors to prevent further humanitarian disasters amid Israeli brutalities.
Wang Wenbin underscored China’s constructive role in promoting a just and lasting solution to the conflict, stating that China has actively engaged in efforts to facilitate peace talks and end hostilities.
China Calls for Safety of Palestinian Civilians Amidst Israeli Brutalities
The overwhelming majority of votes in favor of the UNGA resolution demonstrates the international community’s strong call for a ceasefire amid Israeli brutalities against Palestinian civilians, according to Wang Wenbin. He expressed China’s hope for the prompt alleviation of the humanitarian situation and the effective guarantee of civilians’ safety in Gaza.
Responding to queries about potential meetings involving Zhai Jun, the special envoy of the Chinese government on Middle East issues, Wang Wenbin highlighted China’s intensive communication with relevant parties and active participation in UN Security Council consultations to promote peace talks and achieve a cessation of hostilities.
Wang Wenbin also acknowledged the international recognition of China’s just stance and vital role in promoting a political settlement to the conflict, as well as maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East. China further emphasized the need for measures that promote the implementation of the two-state solution, crucial for achieving a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
China hopes the new UNGA resolution will be fully implemented, so that the humanitarian situation on the ground will be eased soon, the civilians will be protected, and the Palestinian question will find a comprehensive, just and enduring solution at an early date. pic.twitter.com/RGT8I0BYp7
