BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: In a pivotal meeting on the sidelines of the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber reaffirmed their commitment to enhance bilateral and multilateral ties, heralding a new chapter in the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Chinese Premier Li expressed China’s unwavering dedication to reinforcing communication and coordination with Iran within various international frameworks, including the United Nations, the SCO, and BRICS. He emphasized the importance of upholding true multilateralism and safeguarding the common interests of developing nations. Li underscored the resilience of China-Iran diplomatic relations, which have endured for over half a century, weathering the storms of an ever-changing international landscape.
Li pointed out the recent interactions between President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, highlighting the series of vital consensuses they reached. He affirmed China’s readiness to collaborate with Iran in translating these consensuses into concrete actions, thereby elevating the depth and substance of the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership, ultimately benefiting both nations.
Furthermore, China pledged its firm support for Iran’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity. Li vehemently opposed any external interference in Iran’s internal affairs, reinforcing China’s stance on non-interference.
