BEIJING: Chinese authorities have said it has completed the first-ever drone delivery tests on Mount Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, from the Nepali side. The development will pave the grounds for facilitating high-altitude mountaineering, environmental protection and emergency rescue operations, state news agency Xinhua reported.
According to Xinhua, a DJI FlyCart 30 was used in the April tests, during which three oxygen bottles and 1.5 km of other supplies were flown from the Base Camp to Camp 1 of the world’s highest peak, also known as Mt. Qomolangma in China, and trash was carried down on the return trip.
As per media reports, after the tests, a Nepali drone firm was contracted to set up drone delivery operations on Mount Everest from May 22, the drone maker stated.
