BEIJING: China has strongly condemned the attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, the capital city of Syria, and said that the security of diplomatic institutions cannot be violated.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said in a statement on Tuesday that Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence should be respected.
The spokesperson in his regular media briefing said that China was opposing any actions that lead to an escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
As per reports, 13 people, including a senior Iranian commander, were killed in an Israeli air attack on the Iranian consular annex in the Syrian capital on Monday.
Iran Warns to Punish Israel
Meanwhile, Iran has warned that it will punish Israel for its deadly airstrike, according to AFP.
Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei vowed that the evil Zionist regime would be punished at the hands of Iran’s brave men. Tehran will make them regret this crime and the other ones.
President Ebrahim Raisi also condemned the attack as a clear violation of international regulations which he said will not go unanswered.
Raisi said that after repeated failures and defeats against the faith and will of the Resistance Front fighters, the Zionist regime has put blind assassinations on its agenda in the struggle to save itself.
