BEIJING: China’s meteorological authority has issued a renewed blue alert for heavy snowfall in specific areas of the country.
Anticipated snowstorms from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning are expected to affect regions including Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, and Jiangsu, with snowfall ranging from 2 cm to 5 cm, as per the National Meteorological Center.
Authorities has warned to consider the impact of extensive rain, snow, and freezing conditions on the Spring Festival travel rush, urging extra precautions for the safety of the millions traveling during “chunyun.”
Pedestrians and drivers are advised to exercise heightened caution during snowy weather, while local authorities are directed to take preventive measures for roads, railways, electricity, and telecommunications.
China’s four-tier, color-coded weather warning system designates blue as the least severe, followed by yellow, orange, and red for the most extreme weather conditions. —Xinhua/APP
