ISLAMABAD: The Chinese Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the improvement of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, expressing its willingness to continue playing a constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.

In an official statement, a spokesperson for the ministry welcomed the decision by Pakistan and Afghanistan to elevate their diplomatic relations to the ambassadorial level.

“We believe this positive development will enhance mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries, and contribute to regional peace and collective efforts for stability,” said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian in a Press Conference on June 4, 2025.

Assisting both nations

The statement emphasised that China is ready to continue assisting both nations in strengthening their ties and is actively working to implement the outcomes of the recent trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting involving China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

“China will remain committed to playing a constructive role in the development of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations,” the spokesperson added.

Furthermore, the spokesperson underlined China’s readiness to collaborate with regional countries to safeguard peace and stability, and to promote the building of a shared future among neighbouring nations.
