ISLAMABAD: China has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while pledging continued cooperation to help strengthen the country’s socio-economic development.
China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, said this during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Monday.
The Prime Minister conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China, the Prime Minister House media wing said in a statement.

Recalling his recent visit to China in May, he expressed confidence that both countries would continue working closely to implement the key decisions and agreements reached by their leaderships for the mutual benefit and prosperity of their peoples.
“The regional situation, including developments in the Middle East, Afghanistan and South Asia were also discussed during the meeting,” it said.

The Chinese Ambassador said that his country regards Pakistan as an iron brother and would always lend its full support in ensuring Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while also strengthening its socio-economic development.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch were also present in the meeting.

China on Saturday reaffirmed its strong support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts between the United States and Iran to promote the return of all parties to dialogue and negotiations, and achieve a lasting ceasefire.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, China’s Foreign Ministry said.
During the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged Beijing’s continued support for Islamabad’s role in promoting dialogue, advancing negotiations and securing a lasting ceasefire between the US and Iran.
He said Beijing would continue to firmly support its southwestern neighbour in encouraging all parties to return to dialogue and negotiations to achieve a durable peace.
The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said the two firnedly nations should actively advance high-level exchanges and expand practical cooperation across various sectors to accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
Wang said China highly appreciated Pakistan’s key role in facilitating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reached between the United States and Iran, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.
The Islamabad MoU, brokered by Pakistan, was signed in June to end hostilities between the two countries and pave the way for a lasting peace agreement to permanently end the conflict.
The Islamabad MoU was signed on June 18 by US President Donald Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following Islamabad brokered a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
Under the Islamabad MoU, the US and Iran committed to halt military operations, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, and negotiate a comprehensive agreement covering Iran’s nuclear programme, US sanctions, and a permanent ceasefire within 60 days.
