China: Pakistan to Learn from Xinjiang’s Success in Agri Modernisation: PM

URUMQI, China: Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, during his visit to Urumqi, expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in forging a dynamic partnership with Xinjiang, encompassing various facets of connectivity, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange. Addressing students and faculty at Xinjiang University, he highlighted the multifaceted collaboration between the two regions.

The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s desire to learn from Xinjiang’s achievements in agricultural modernization and the intent to establish a collaborative agricultural demonstration zone to introduce cutting-edge farming techniques in Pakistan. Additionally, he underscored the importance of developing links between the industries of Xinjiang and Pakistan, particularly in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, with a focus on solar energy.

Cultural and people-to-people connections were at the forefront of PM Kakar’s address, as he extended an invitation to tourists from Xinjiang and other parts of China to explore the scenic wonders of Pakistan. He acknowledged the enduring cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and Xinjiang, emphasizing the significance of the Khunjerab border as a vital link connecting the two nations.

PM Kakar revealed plans to transform Pakistan’s Khunjerab border into an all-weather crossing, aimed at facilitating trade and enhancing logistic services. He highlighted the strategic importance of Xinjiang within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing the enduring trust and shared aspirations that underpin the unique relationship between China and Pakistan.

The Prime Minister’s visit also included a tour of the History Museum of Xinjiang University, where he gained insights into the rich history of the 99-year-old institution. PM Kakar’s visit showcased Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Xinjiang and enhancing the enduring friendship and economic partnership between the two regions.
