China not Deploying Troops in Pakistan: Foreign Office

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has completely rejected reports about the deployment of Chinese troops in Pakistan and termed these reports as false.

Responding to a question in his weekly briefing on Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said, “I completely deny this; no Chinese forces are being deployed in Pakistan.”

“Totally false”

He said that this is a “totally false” story, adding, “There is no credibility to these reports.”

Responding to another question regarding talks between Pakistan and China on the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, he said that these are ongoing discussions.

The spokesperson added that this this is “Our commitment to ensure security of Chinese personnel in Pakistan.”

Concerns raised

Shafqat Ali Khan also voiced concerns over the scores of raids conducted by Indian authorities on residences belonging to members of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the intent of these raids is to crush dissent and intimidate the local people. He urged the Indian authorities to stop these oppressive measures and respect the fundamental rights and freedom of Kashmiri people including their right to self-determination.
