ZHENGZHOU: China on Monday commenced a week-long awareness campaign to promote cybersecurity in military barracks, with a launch ceremony at the People’s Liberation Army Strategic Support Force Information Engineering University.

The overarching theme of the 2023 cybersecurity awareness week in military barracks revolves around fostering a responsible and lawful approach to internet usage, ensuring cybersecurity compliance with existing laws, and nurturing a pristine online environment for military personnel.

The primary objective of this initiative is to heighten awareness about cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies. It also seeks to advocate for the ethical and lawful management, governance, and utilization of the internet.

Throughout the week-long campaign, military units will receive comprehensive education on the intricate and ever-evolving landscape of the online ideological sphere. This education equips them with knowledge about cybersecurity protection and emerging technologies in the digital realm.

The activities planned for the cybersecurity awareness week, which will extend until September 17, will feature a diverse range of formats. These include expert lectures, panel discussions, quizzes, and specialized training sessions focusing on network confidentiality.

Leveraging online platforms, relevant military and civilian departments will conduct virtual training sessions addressing topics such as internet security management, cyber defence, and emergency response. Additionally, they will offer online consultations to soldiers to further enhance their cybersecurity knowledge and readiness.
