BEIJING: The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the top political advisory body in the country, convened its 3rd standing committee meeting on Tuesday, with a focus on improving the sci-tech innovation system and expediting the process of the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy.
Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, chaired the opening meeting.
According to Xinhua, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang attended the meeting and delivered a report.
Ding said that the CPC Central Committee, with President Xi Jinping at its core, gives great immense importance to scientific and technological innovation and insists on placing innovation in the country’s overall development.
China’s Historic Achievements
He said that China has made historic achievements and undergone great changes in its scientific and technological endeavors, leading it to join the ranks of innovative nations.
He urged consolidating the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee over technological and scientific work, the organization and coordination of big national sci-tech strategic tasks, and the coordination of sci-tech work management.
Ding stressed the need for efforts to execute important tasks aimed at realizing the strategic aim of bolstering China’s prowess in science and technology.
