ISLAMABAD: A survey-based report released by the Munich Security Conference (MSC) has revealed that internationally, more and more people see the world as becoming multipolar.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday in response to the latest MSC report that China believed that multipolarisation was the underlying trend of today’s world and an unstoppable trend of our times.

The MSC report focused on multipolarisation, saying that China was the world’s most prominent and powerful proponent of a multipolar order.

The report also highlighted strong public support in China for multipolarity, convinced of the benefit of a multipolar world for global peace and prosperity.

“China stands for an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalisation,” Guo said

He went on to say that China was committed to practising true multilateralism, working for greater democracy in international relations and calling for countries around the world to jointly safeguard the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, uphold fairness and justice, and play a constructive role in resolving international and regional hotspot issues.

Win-win cooperation

Financial Times quoted the spokesperson as saying that China upheld win-win cooperation.

“As it firmly boosts its high-quality development, China continues to advance high-level opening-up, promote liberalisation and facilitation of trade and investment, and keep the global industrial and supply chains stable and smooth,” the spokesperson said.

Guo further stated that in recent years, China has been the largest driving force for global economic growth with its contribution to it at around 30 percent over the years.

“Multiple challenges”

“The world today is confronted with multiple challenges. It is all the more important for countries around the world to have closer cooperation. China is ready to work with all parties to follow the trend of the times, share opportunities, overcome challenges and promote development together, build a community with a shared future for mankind and make greater contributions to safeguarding and promoting world peace, stability, development and prosperity,” the spokesperson said.
