ISLAMABAD:  China has announced that it will update its undergraduate studies program by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Turkish media cited Chinese local media as saying that the Chinese Education Ministry is introducing 29 new academic majors in emerging fields such as AI and low-altitude economy.

These new programmes will be part of this year’s college entrance examinations, according to an official statement of the ministry cited by Global Times.

Development needs

The aim of these additional majors is to meet market demand, technology and development needs, in line with Beijing’s national strategies, the statement said.

The added programs also include specialities such as regional and country studies, carbon neutrality science and engineering, marine science and technology, and healthcare security, according to reports.

New programmes centred on the role of AI in driving economic and social progress, such as AI education, intelligent audiovisual engineering, and digital drama, have also been introduced, it further said.
