BEIJING: China on Monday congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan following his electoral victory in a historic runoff vote.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said that China felicitates President Erdogan on his re-election and gives great importance to its ties with Turkiye.
She said that China extended its support to Turkiye in taking a development path that suited its national conditions and hoped that it would continue to get new achievements in its development under the leadership of President Recep Erdogan.
The spokesperson added that in recent years, under the guidance of the leadership on both sides, the two nations have achieved fruitful cooperation in multiple fields, benefiting the two peoples.
China Keen to Push Strategic Ties Further
Mao Ning said Beijing was willing to work with Ankara to push the strategic cooperative ties to new heights.
Erdogan won the presidential election with 52.14 percent to extend his two-decade rule.
