BEIJING: China affirmed its support for the “just cause of the Palestinian people in safeguarding their national rights” amidst the intensifying Israel-Gaza conflict, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in talks with his Iranian and Saudi counterparts on Sunday.
In a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Wang emphasized the historical injustice faced by Palestinians and advocated for an end to the prolonged denial of their right to statehood. He stated that China would stand on the side of peace and support the Palestinian people’s efforts in defending their national rights.
Wang also spoke with Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan, urging Israel to cease its collective punishment of the people of Gaza and respond to international calls for de-escalation. He emphasized the need for all parties to avoid actions that could escalate the situation and advocated for a return to the negotiating table.
