ISLAMABAD: China has expressed “deep concern” over the current tension between Pakistan and India, state-run PTV News reported on Saturday.

China has urged India and Pakistan to avoid an escalation in fighting, Beijing’s Foreign Ministry said, as the conflict between its two nuclear-armed neighbours spiralled towards further escalation, AFP reported.

Political settlement

“We strongly call on both India and Pakistan to give priority to peace and stability, remain calm and restrained, return to the track of political settlement through peaceful means and avoid taking actions that further escalate tensions,” AFP cited a statement by a foreign ministry spokesperson as saying.

Pakistan’s military launched its counter-offensive against India, codenamed “Bunyan-un-Marsoos”, named after a verse in the holy Quran.

Counter strikes

According to sources, Pakistan’s military has targeted a number of military sites across India. The strikes have all been carried out against military sites, including missile stations and airfields.

According to military sources, all of these locations have been involved in targeting Pakistani civilians, places of worship, as well as military installations.

Radio Pakistan reported that Pakistan has destroyed BrahMos Storage site in Beas area of India.
