ISLAMABAD: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir that China was committed to Pakistan’s sovereignty and development.
The Chinese foreign minister, along with a delegation, held a meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir at Islamabad.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said discussions focused on regional security, counter-terrorism and matters of mutual interests.
All-weather strategic partnership
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen the all-weather strategic partnership and enhance coordination at regional and international forums.
Wang Yi reiterated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development, the statement read.
Asim Munir expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Strategic dialogue
Previously, on Thursday, Pakistan and China held the 6th round of Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad, reviewing the entire gamut of Pakistan-China relations and discussing important regional and global issues.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a post on X that Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also exchanged in-depth views on multiple facets of bilateral cooperation, including CPEC 2.0, trade and economic relations, multilateral cooperation and people-to-people ties.
“During the Dialogue, the two sides reviewed the entire gamut of Pakistan-China relations and discussed important regional and global issues. They also exchanged in-depth views on multiple facets of bilateral cooperation, including CPEC 2.0, trade and economic relations, multilateral cooperation, and people-to-people ties,” the foreign office said.
According to Xinhua news agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on China and Pakistan to advance the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership through the “four always” principles.
Cordial and brotherly atmosphere
Wang said that the dialogue was held in a cordial and brotherly atmosphere, during which both sides reached a consensus on almost all issues through comprehensive and in-depth communication. Wang stressed that China and Pakistan will remain committed to the “four always,” the first of which is to maintain high mutual trust and support.
The two sides agreed to take the important consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries as a strategic guide, continuously consolidate and deepen strategic mutual trust, and firmly support each other in safeguarding core interests, Wang said.
