BEIJING: China has called for a comprehensive truce and cessation of hostilities to guarantee humanitarian help and effectively protect civilian population as the war in Gaza drags on.  According to local media, this was stated by Chinese diplomat Wang Kejian during his visit to Israel.

He has called for a comprehensive truce and end of hostilities to guarantee humanitarian help and effectively protect civilian population in the Gaza Strip.

The diplomat also asked for a political settlement of the Palestinian issue on the ground of the “two-state solution” to realize the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s health ministry stated that around 29 Palestinians were killed while awaiting aid in two different Israeli attacks in Gaza on Thursday. The ministry said that eight people were killed in the first incident when Israeli attack targeted an aid distribution center in Al-Nuseirat camp in Gaza.

The war in the Strip has displaced most of the enclave’s 2.3 million people. Deadly incidents and chaotic scenes have taken place during food distributions as desperately needy people scrambled for help and food in the area.

Since October 7, Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip has killed around 31,000 people and also injured more than 71,500 mostly women and children, Gaza health officials said.
