ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have reiterated their shared commitment to promoting regional peace and stability, with Beijing acknowledging Islamabad’s key role in easing tensions amid an increasingly volatile Middle East situation.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss the evolving regional landscape.

During the discussion, Dar emphasised Pakistan’s consistent stance that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only effective means of resolving international disputes. He also highlighted Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to reduce regional tensions, including its initiative to facilitate a new round of talks between Iran and the United States.
Iran-US negotiations
Wang Yi welcomed the move towards renewed Iran-US negotiations, describing such efforts as vital for maintaining regional stability. He also expressed China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role and reaffirmed Beijing’s full support for its efforts to promote de-escalation.
Both sides reaffirmed that Pakistan and China are strategic cooperative partners, underpinned by mutual trust and confidence. They agreed to continue close coordination to advance peace, stability and economic prosperity in the region and beyond, particularly through collaboration at multilateral platforms such as the United Nations.
The two leaders also stressed the importance of an immediate halt to hostilities, the resumption of dialogue, protection of civilians, safeguarding maritime security and adherence to the principles of the UN Charter.
In addition, they exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and agreed to continue working together to promote lasting peace, security and stability in the country and the wider region.
