UNITED NATIONS: China’s permanent representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Chen Xu, declared China’s support for Palestine’s increased participation in the World Health Organization (WHO). Speaking at the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA), Chen endorsed a draft resolution aligning Palestine’s participation in the WHO with its UN involvement.

The resolution passed with 101 votes in favor, five against, and 21 abstentions. Chen highlighted a recent UN General Assembly resolution recognizing Palestine’s qualification for full UN membership, which China supports as it represents the international community’s will.

He emphasized that the two-state solution is the only viable path to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and granting Palestine full UN membership is a crucial step in this direction.

Chen called on all parties to acknowledge the legitimate concerns of the Palestinian people and to ensure Palestine can contribute significantly to the WHO.
