QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has reaffirmed his commitment to eliminating terrorism in the province.
Speaking to the media alongside representatives from allied parties in Quetta, he said that the government will not remain passive in the face of terrorism and will take all necessary measures to address it.
Condemning the terror incident with strong words, Bugti asserted that from now on, the government will not pay heed to propaganda aimed at garnering sympathy. He vowed to take decisive action against those disrupting peace and criticized political forces that indirectly support these peace disruptors.
Bugti outlined plans to combat terrorism and restore peace, including improving response times on highways and enhancing the capabilities of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police. He emphasized adopting a smart, kinetic approach to target terrorist elements and stressed that all forms of violence will be addressed equally.
He claimed that there is ample circumstantial evidence indicating an intelligence-driven campaign designed to weaken the state. Bugti warned that some individuals may unknowingly contribute to this campaign and advised them to avoid participating in propaganda.
The Chief Minister also reiterated that the government’s door remains open for those willing to surrender and seek peace. However, he made it clear that no one will be permitted to spread violence. The government is determined to enforce its authority, no matter how stringent the measures required.
In response to questions about missing persons, Bugti reported that a commission has resolved 84 percent of cases. He lamented that during discussions, parties often present additional demands rather than focusing on resolving the core issue.
