LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab’s interior advisor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, has said that Rana Sanaullah, the federal interior minister, will be detained if he reaches Punjab. The advisor said further that Rana Sanaullah’s non-bailable warrant had been acquired by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab. The arrest request is valid until October 19.
Cheema said that Inspector General of Punjab Police has received instructions to help the ACE Punjab for the arrest of Rana Sanaullah and adviser has given the order for Rana to be arrested in accordance with the law.
Punjab Chief Minister’s anti-corruption advisor Brigadier (R) Musaddiq Abbasi said that Rana Sanaullah has been found guilty in the corruption case against him. Rana Sanaullah accepted two plots as “bribe” from the Bismillah Housing Scheme, which is an “illegal housing society,” in the Chakwal district.
A special court of anti-corruption Rawalpindi issued an arrest warrant for Rana Sanaullah on October 8 in connection with an investigation into an estate in a housing society that was bought at a bargain price. The arrest warrant for Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in connection with this case was suspended by the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Friday.
ACE stopped from detaining Sana
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court has stopped the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) from detaining the minister and conducting a raid on his home on the petition from PML-N attorneys challenging the warrant today. Rana Sanaullah said earlier that he would be filing a lawsuit against the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for “tampering records” and “misleading the court” in a case brought against him four years ago.
According to the spokesperson for the federal interior ministry, ACE Punjab is not giving the Islamabad Police the case files along with the warrant. According to an ACE Punjab official, the PML-N leader’s arrest warrant was issued after he failed to show up for an investigation.
