SAN FRANCISCO: This holiday season, Target customers can shop directly through ChatGPT, the AI chatbot, thanks to a new feature that allows users to find and buy products without leaving the app.
Shoppers can talk to ChatGPT about what they want, add items to a cart, and complete purchases, making the process faster and simpler.
Target has integrated its shopping experience into ChatGPT so that users can interact as if speaking to a virtual store assistant.
Instead of scrolling through menus and filters, shoppers can ask for specific products or even get help with bigger projects, like planning a party.
ChatGPT responds with product suggestions, curated lists, and recommendations. Users can then add items to a shared basket and check out using their Target account.
Delivery options include shipping, in-store pickup, and curbside pickup, with same-day delivery coming soon.
This move represents a shift in online shopping from traditional clicking to a conversational approach.
ChatGPT can suggest products based on what users need or even what they might not have thought of buying, making the experience feel more natural and intuitive.
OpenAI’s Applications CEO, Fidji Simo, said the integration shows how AI is changing business operations quickly and creatively.
