ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday congratulated the nation on the approval of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, praising the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the coalition government for their tireless efforts in advancing judicial reforms.
In a statement, Gilani lauded Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and all coalition partners for their commitment to this critical reform. He said that the amendment will strengthen the judicial system across Pakistan’s four provinces and significantly enhance access to justice for the public.
“The 26th Constitutional Amendment will not only improve the functioning of the superior judiciary but will also bring about significant reforms to ensure justice is more accessible to the people,” Gilani said.
He also paid tribute to the late Benazir Bhutto, noting her long-standing dedication to improving the judicial system. “Today, with the passing of the 26th Amendment, another of Shaheed Bibi’s dreams has come true,” he added.

Gilani credited PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the coalition parties for their collective role in making this achievement possible. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of the PPP in its continued efforts to promote democracy in Pakistan.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to serving the people, Gilani said, “The PPP remains the largest and most dedicated party for the people of Pakistan,” expressing gratitude to all coalition partners for their support in passing this crucial constitutional reform.
