ISLAMABAD: Chairman FBR Asim Ahmad on Tuesday briefed the Senate standing committee on Finance on the tax-related litigation amounting to Rs 2330 billion.
He told the senate body that around 76349 cases have been registered on tax-related issues. Some 245 cases have been withheld at Islamabad High Court. Special Benches have been constituted at the IHC and LHC, he added.

Federal Board of Revenue chairman would soon meet with chief justices of IHC and LHC as benches would help resolve pending tax-related cases. He said an amount of around Rs 1400 billion was stuck in some 63000 cases. Top 100 cases will be picked for resolution on account of taxes, he said and added Senate Standing Committee would suggest speed up recovery and out-of-court settlement.
