MUZAFFARGARH, Pakistan: A powerful onslaught of floodwaters has wreaked havoc on Nakli village (Alipur tehsil), sweeping away 50 homes and entangling the community in an intricate array of challenges that stretch well beyond the mere loss of shelter.

Amidst the heartbreaking scene of homes disappearing into the river’s depths, Tehsildar Muhammad Iqbal Abbassi visited the disaster-stricken zone. His visit held the purpose of assessment of the full extent of the damages.

Once a thriving hub within Mouza Kundrala, Nakli Gopang now wears a deserted visage and complete silence.

Authorities responded quickly to this catastrophe by establishing flood relief camps and providing temporary shelter in tents to people forced to flee. There was a ray of optimism as Tehsildar told the devastated residents that he would work tirelessly to obtain compensation for their shattered lives. —APP
