NEW YORK: Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen has tied the knot with music producer Cole M.G.N., whose full name is Cole Marsden Greif-Neill, in a private ceremony at New York’s iconic Chelsea Hotel earlier this month, Vogue reported.

The 39-year-old Call Me Maybe singer and the music producer exchanged vows on 4 October in the hotel’s famed Bard Room before 100 guests, including singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, who gave a surprise performance of Leonard Cohen’s Chelsea Hotel #2.

“We knew we wanted a location that meant something to us, and the Chelsea Hotel had become a home away from home every time we were in New York,” Jepsen told Vogue. “As artists, its iconic history and lore made it that much more appealing.”

Her aunt and uncle officiated the ceremony, which Jepsen described as “light and joyful,” with “bright baby blue” décor, wildflowers, and soft lighting. “Nothing will top the moment when we first locked eyes,” she added.

Designer dresses and personal touches

Jepsen wore two dresses for the occasion — a strapless corseted gown by Australian designer Toni Maticevski for the ceremony, and a tiered, flowing reception dress by New York designer Danielle Frankel. She accessorised with pearl earrings handcrafted by her mother, Alexandra Lanzarott.

“We knew we were trying to get pregnant, so I also wanted a flowy choice that I could dance in,” Jepsen told Vogue. Cole wore a cream-coloured suit by Husbands Paris with a Dolce & Gabbana shirt.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and an intimate dinner featuring a four-tiered almond and raspberry wedding cake decorated with sugared kumquats. The following day, the newlyweds posed for photos in their wedding attire on the streets of New York.

From musical collaboration to romance

Jepsen and Cole first met in 2021 while collaborating on her 2023 album The Loveliest Time. Their professional partnership soon blossomed into a romantic relationship.

Speaking to People magazine previously, Jepsen said their connection deepened through music. “You have to get to a certain level of comfort with somebody before you can get to those really playful, joyful, experimental places,” she said. The song So Right from her 2023 album was described by Jepsen as their “meet-cute”.

The couple announced their engagement in September 2024, when Jepsen shared photos of her dark-stone ring on Instagram with the caption: “Very engaged over here 💍❤️.”

‘Better than our wildest dreams’

Reflecting on her wedding day, Jepsen told Vogue that the celebration “was better than either one of our wildest dreams.” She added: “We felt connected through the whole thing, which was really important to us.”

Sharing photos of the day on Instagram, Jepsen wrote: “Husband. That feels good to say. ❤️ New York City ~Oct. 4th. Favourite day of my life.”
