ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar embarked on a two-day visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Wednesday, where he is set to participate in the 5th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Business Forum. The Prime Minister’s visit is accompanied by Caretaker Foreign Minister Syed Jalil Abbas Jailani and several other cabinet members.
The ECO Business Forum provides an ideal platform for the caretaker prime minister to engage in meetings with prominent businessmen and leaders from member countries of the ECO. This gathering is a prime opportunity to discuss and further regional cooperation and trade relations among the participating nations.
A statement issued by the Foreign Office underscored that Prime Minister Kakar’s visit is a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to ECO Vision 2025. During the forum, Pakistan will emphasize the promotion of regional cooperation in various vital sectors, including trade, transportation, connectivity, energy, tourism, and economic growth and productivity.
Furthermore, PM Kakar will present Pakistan’s vision for the future work of the organization, focusing on enhancing regional connectivity and mutual prosperity among member countries. The visit also offers a platform for bilateral discussions with leaders from Uzbekistan and other nations, promoting stronger ties and cooperation.

This foreign visit marks the caretaker prime minister’s sixth international trip during his 11-week tenure. His previous visits have taken him to significant destinations, including the United Nations headquarters in the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and China. Notably, the interim prime minister had missed his initial foreign trip in early September, which was intended for Kenya to participate in an African event.
