ISLAMABAD: Interim Defence Minister, Lieutenant General (R) Anwar Ali Hyder, visited Naval Headquarters (NHQ) where he held discussions with Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, on Friday.
The Chief of Naval Staff warmly welcomed the Defence Minister upon his arrival and introduced him to the Principal Staff Officers at Naval Headquarters, read press release by the Pakistan Navy.
The meeting revolved around various topics, including the security dynamics of the regional maritime domain and the operational preparedness of the Pakistan Navy.
Admiral Niazi briefed the Defence Minister about the Pakistan Navy’s roles, capabilities, and future plans for modernization. He highlighted recent procurements of cutting-edge naval platforms and equipment aimed at bolstering the country’s impregnable naval defense.
The discussion also covered Pakistan Navy’s proactive efforts in Regional Maritime Security Patrols and its involvement in missions related to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief. The Defense Minister was informed about the contemporary training programs designed to keep naval officers and personnel updated with the latest trends in naval warfare.
The caretaker Defence Minister applauded the Pakistan Navy’s role in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests. He specifically commended the unwavering dedication of the Pakistan Navy’s officers and personnel, especially their commitment during times of natural disasters. Lieutenant General (R) Anwar Ali Hyder expressed his complete confidence in the operational readiness of the Pakistan Navy.
