Caretaker CM Punjab Reviews Pakistan’s Independence Day Preparations

RAWALPINDI: The Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, visited Murree on Saturday to review preparations made by the administration for Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14.

A special meeting concerning the arrangements for Independence Day took place at the Government House in Murree. The session, chaired by Chief Minister, reviewed the finalized arrangements for August 14, said the district administration spokesperson.

During the briefing, CM was informed that approximately 400,000 tourists are expected to travel to Murree over the next 48 hours. The meeting also examined the intricate traffic management strategy for Independence Day.

Independence Day Preparation in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi Division Commissioner also briefed the CM on the scheduled fireworks display on August 13 and 14, alongside a musical program planned at various parks and tourist sites set for August 14 to commemorate Independence Day.

The Chief Minister ordered the relevant authorities to take stringent measures against unauthorized constructions and encroachments within the Murree district. Furthermore, he directed them to expand the tourist area of Murree.

The Chief Secretary of Punjab, Zahid Akhtar Zaman, outlined the plans to enhance the convenience of tourists in Murree. Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the need for optimal arrangements to facilitate tourists in Murree on Independence Day.

During the meeting, decisions were made regarding the master plan for Murree, facility improvements, and traffic management.

Among those in attendance were the Chief Secretary, Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division, Regional Police Officer, City Police Officer, Deputy Commissioner, officials from the Forests Department, Tourism, National Highway Authority, Parks and Horticulture Authority, Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority, and other relevant officers.

Provincial Information Minister Amir Mir, Additional Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Housing, Construction, Communication, and Health Secretaries participated in the meeting via video link.
