NETIV HAASARA: A Canadian citizen attempted to launch a knife attack on an Israeli security unit in southern Israel near the Gaza border on Monday and was subsequently shot dead by Israeli authorities, according to official statements and media reports.
The incident unfolded at the entrance of Netiv HaAsara, a community where security measures have been heightened following previous violent incidents. The area was notably affected during the October 7 attack by Hamas in southern Israel.

Israeli military sources confirmed that the suspect, identified as a Canadian national, exited his vehicle and threatened members of the community’s rapid response team with a knife.
“The rapid response team reacted promptly, using firearms to neutralize the suspect. No injuries were reported among the security forces,” the Israeli military stated.
Footage from Reuters television captured the aftermath of the confrontation, showing the body of the suspected attacker being transported to an ambulance.
