Canadian PM,  His Wife Announce to Separate

TORONTO: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, have announced that they are going to separate after 18-year of marriage, Western media reported on Wednesday.

In a statement, they said that they took the decision after difficult and meaningful talks. Canadian Prime Minister’s office also confirmed the development and said that the couple also inked a legal document for separation.

They were married in 2005 and have three children, 14-year-old Ella-Grace, 15-year-old Xavier, and 9-year-old Hadrien.

The PM’s office said, “The couple remain a close family and Sophie and Justin Trudeau are focused on raising their children in a loving , safe, and collaborative atmosphere,”.   The PM’s office requested to pay request for the privacy of the couple.

Prime Minister Trudeau is the 2nd Prime Minister of Canada to announce a separation while in office.

Earlier, Justin Trudeau’s father, Pierre Trudeau, also separated from his wife Margaret in 1979.
